Hi, I’m Scott

Photos by Scott Kaiser.

Hello! Welcome to Blue Ridge Mountain Bear Dog (BR Mountain Bear Dog for short). I’m stoked you stopped by. I built this site mainly for myself as a creative outlet to dabble in photography and storytelling my adventures. I have a normal 8-5 job and budding consulting firm that keeps me more than busy during the week. I do my best to keep the balance and get after it on the weekends and you can usually find me in the hills of the Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountains with a few grandeur trips thrown into the mix.

I’ve been interested in photography for several years but only recently purchased my first “real” camera (a FujiFilm xt20 for those who want to know) to dive into the creative side of photo storytelling. This website and blog is my way to practice this new creative craft and share with family and friends my big and small adventures—you’re welcome to follow along!

You’re probably wondering where the site got its name. Cody is my best four-legged friend who is more than stoked to join me on all my half-baked adventure ideas. He’s a black lab mix and everybody wants to know what he’s mixed with. My response is usually, “he’s part bear.” Always gets a chuckle but I’m not kidding when I say many hikers have confused him for a bear on the trail over the years. It’s happened so many times, Cody wears a bell when we hike to make himself known!
